OCS Indonesia has participated in OCS Race the Thames this week from 21 Mar 2024 to 27 Mar 2024 by providing 2 Teams: #Nusantara led by Rakhmah Tersier (Head of Corporate and Marketing Communication) and #Khatulistiwa led by Meindi Firmansyah (HR Director). This Race is a great initiative to support our OCS Global Initiatives’ two important charities: the OCS Foundation Charity and the London Youth Rowing Charity. OCS Indonesia shares the same spirit and relentlessly support the initiatives despite the challenge, the month of Ramadan, i.e., a month of fasting, worship, community service, and spiritual development. To make this event meaningful and provide rich lesson learnt about leadership, determination and responsibility to both participants and organizations, we built diverse team consisting of Excom, Manager, Supervisor, until Administration Staff, and disregard hierarchy during the Race to foster spirit of humility and embrace the Diversity and Inclusion. Our Excom representatives were divided into two groups. Baoa Sinaga (Chief Commercial Officer) and I are in the #Nusantara Team, and Meindi Firmansyah and Dedy Roza (Regional Branch Director) are in the #Khatulistiwa Team. All of us (16) are thrilled and proud to be part of 360 participants and 45 teams in OCS organization around the globe taking on a 346 km challenge, the distance of the River Thames from Source to Sea, covering the distance through whatever means suits our best - running, walking, and cycling. For us, this Race is not just a race, but has a deeper meaning after we experienced the struggle, pain, gain, and achievements of each team members to contribute according to their limitations, especially since most of them are not the runners. The real treasure we got is the knowhow about the interconnection and intersection between this Race and Self-Leadership application. Obviously it lies in how our team contribute to collective progress (692 km) while also taking ownership of their individual roles and responsibilities. Team members who have adopted self-leadership practices can positively influence the group’s dynamic’s, and even country’s dynamic, by demonstrating initiative, accountability, and resilience. Please applaud our #Nusantara and #Khatulistiwa Teams, by Day 6 we have completed 96% of the Total distance (692 km) and tomorrow we will finish the line with proud and pride. What we learn from the OCS Race the Thames is applying Self-Leadership within a group context will contribute to the effectiveness and performance of the individuals within teams. Integrating self-leadership practices within a team can enhance collaboration, creative-thinking, and overall outcomes. Ramadan month makes our Muslim colleagues prove one thing together that “.. determination and enthusiasm make everything possible.. Big shout out to Rakhmah Tersier who demonstrated extraordinary leadership to lead the Country Races successful #WeareOCS #Unity #RacetheThames #leadership
